Stencil Diptych

These two images were made to be together. Not literally. I didn’t shoot one and then come across the other on the street and then thought “ah HA”. The process was a bit more oblique than that. I shot these two images two years apart. It wasn’t until I was editing and sequencing images for my book, “People, Places, and Random Things” that I saw them as a pair. I just uploaded the diptych to my web gallery Random Things and thought I would share it.

This is a diptych of images showing stenciled white lettering on different backgrounds with faint striations caused by weathering and woodgrain. The right image was photographed on a four wheel motorized vehicle used in Central Park. The left image was photographed outside a construction site. (Robert Englebright)
